Performance Upgrade for the 2019-2022 BMW X5 xDrive40i 3.0L Kit 827-702

With the growing popularity of SUVs in the last few decades, functionality and cargo space now come with greater attention to power, speed, and overall driving experience. The 4th generation BMW X5 provides drivers with standard xDrive all-wheel drive and an option for a 3.0L B58 turbo engine that is also shared with the agile 2021 Toyota Supra GR. These upgrades have garnered a great following from drivers who need the versatility of a larger vehicle but want the power and performance of a sports car.

Our R&D team brought in a 2019 BMW X5 xDrive40i 3.0L for a special project that included the development of a performance enhancing intake. We started with a 3D scan of the engine bay using a FARO Design Arm before creating our model on Solidworks. This ensured that the intake would fit properly and precisely in place of the stock part. Once everything was mapped out and accounted for, our 827-702 kit was born.

Made from 3.5” aircraft-grade mandrel bent aluminum piping and paired with our 6” HPS Performance High Flow Universal Air Filter, this kit is built of premium parts with premium materials. The washable air filter is constructed from two layers of woven cotton and dressed with synthetic oil that’s encased in steel mesh. This filtration system allows for plenty of fresh air to enter the intake. The larger diameter of the intake then provides greater airflow through the pipe which means greater horsepower, torque, and ultimately, performance. Additionally, the heat shield integrates with the factory fresh air scoop to direct cold air to the air filter for the best cooling effect. Dyno testing showed that we achieved an increase of 22 horsepower and 26 ft/lbs of torque that can be felt through greater throttle response.
